Lesson Plans:

Week #8 ~
October 13 - 18

We will complete our review of the English Gothic cathedrals, and then we are flying off to Florence, Italy, to see the birth of the Renaissance!

There are 2 Renaissances --
   Italian and Northern Renaissances
Our focus will be on the Italian Renaissance, which has 4 cultural styles:
     Late Middle Ages,
     Early Renaissance,
     High Renaissance,
        & Mannerism.

In architecture, the scholars of the Renaissance were inspired by the architecture or ancient Greece and ancient Rome, so buildings returned to focusing on balance & order.

A new art evolving is painting.
What started in Florence, Italy, moved to Rome & other Italian cities, and this had a major impact on the Northern Renaissance artists as well.
